Paula Upchurch Joins the Cornerstone Credit Union Foundation Team

Paula UpchurchThe Cornerstone Credit Union Foundation (CSCUF) is proud to announce the addition of Paula Upchurch as its new Financial Capability Director, effective January 1, 2018.

In this newly created role, Upchurch will manage all Financial Capability Programs for CSCUF, including serving as liaison for the Financial Capability Network promoting and facilitating experiential learning activities, delivering financial education presentations, and providing support to credit unions.

“I am thrilled to have Paula join the Foundation team,” said Courtney Moran, Foundation executive director. “She has already proven to be successful with the implementation of credit union Reality Fairs, VITA sites, and various financial education programs. She will serve extremely valuable as we continue to expand our overall financial capability initiative.”

"It is going to be exciting to work in my new role as financial capabilities director, working directly with our credit unions to bring financial capabilities to their members and communities," said Upchurch. "I feel blessed to be able to make a career out of one of my biggest passions.”

Upchurch is new to CSCUF, but has served as a Cornerstone Credit Union League representative since 2010, as well as the director of REAL Solutions since 2011. Prior to joining Cornerstone, she served as a CEO of a credit union in the Chicago, Ill., area. She also has more than 20 years of lending experience in the banking industry. 

Upchurch has served as vice president and a member of the board of directors for a newly established lending office in Indianapolis, Indiana. She has taken AIB classes in accounting, banking, finance, marketing, economics, and management.

Throughout her career, Upchurch has been very involved in community organizations. She has served on the board of directors for the Chamber of Commerce and as president of the Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors, where she helped establish a business LEADS program; and she was part of the Central Illinois Human Resource Networking Group for the community of Streator, Ill.
