National Financial Literacy Month kicks-off April 6, and credit unions have the opportunity to participate in a Financial Fitness Day fundraiser. Financial education is a critical focus of many credit unions’ outreach efforts in order to improve the financial well-being of their members and community. We hope your organization will hold a fundraiser such as a casual day on April 6 to support these activities across the country.
This initiative will raise funds for both the National Credit Union Foundation and the Cornerstone Credit Union Foundation. The Cornerstone Foundation is asking credit unions in Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Texas to notify them if they plan to participate, as the Cornerstone Foundation wants to track and promote those credit unions.
Financial Fitness Day is an opportunity to bring awareness to the importance of having the knowledge and skills to make sound financial decisions. To participate, credit unions can hold a jeans/casual day for staff, a bake sale, a "donate a buck" day, or come up with another creative idea to celebrate Financial Fitness Day.
If your credit union is participating, please notify Cornerstone Credit Union Foundation’s Financial Education Liaison, Emily Moreno, at email@example.com or 469-385-6483.
