The Cornerstone Credit Union Foundation’s Community Investment Fund (CIF) Grants Committee recently approved 13 grants totaling $23,250.
Among the credit unions that received a CIF grant was NCE Credit Union, located at the county courthouse in Corpus Christi, Texas. The credit union's space is extremely small and storage for records is limited, so NCE used their grant to mitigate the high costs of converting their document retention system to an electronic format.
In a letter from CEO Veronica Mahzoon-Hagheghi, she states, “Thank you so much for the grant you have awarded our credit union. The funds will be used to purchase equipment to scan documents. We have a very small office with very little space for file cabinets. Although our office is small, it is located in a perfect area of the courthouse, and we are very accessible to our members.”
Additionally, the Foundation awarded five grants to assist with various audits and seven grants to purchase new computer software and hardware, as many credit unions are being forced to upgrade by software companies.
The next application deadline and opportunity for your credit union to receive a CIF grant in 2015 is Oct. 13.
