The Cornerstone Credit Union Foundation has been working hard to raise funds for the benefit of credit unions; and in September, two significant events came to fruition, the Mustang Mania raffle and the 19th Annual Foundation Golf Tournament.
For the Mustang Mania raffle, the Foundation raised a total of $36,000 in net proceeds. The Foundation extends huge thanks to all those who purchased tickets. The drawing was held at the CUNA Mutual Party during the Leadership Conference in San Antonio.
The winner of the 2016 Ford Mustang was Andrew Wilson with SACU. Wilson elected to take the $19,000 cash value of the vehicle instead and has already traveled to Dallas to collect his winnings.
Donna Kobayashi with Tarrant County's CU won the trip for two including air fare and hotel, donated by the Cornerstone Credit Union League, and Cindy White with Oklahoma Educators CU took home a 14kt gold and diamond ring, donated by the Diamond Doctor.
The 19th Annual Golf Tournament proved once again to be successful, with 136 players hitting the links, tireless volunteers, and the 56 sponsors who made it all happen. The tournament, which preceded the Leadership Conference, raised $99,000 in net proceeds—quite an eventful September!
All of the funds raised go toward the Foundation's mission to carry out three primary initiatives: financial education programs for youth and adults, professional development for credit union staff and volunteers, and disaster relief for credit union staff when disaster strikes.
"I'm humbled and thrilled by the generosity of our credit unions," said Foundation Executive Director Courtney Moran. "We as a Foundation could not make a difference and give back to the credit union communities without the support of credit unions and their generous leaders, employees, and members."
