Foundation requests continued giving to help address additional disaster relief needs

Now that the immediate threat of Hurricane Harvey has passed, some credit unions in the impacted areas are able to fully assess their needs, and Cornerstone Credit Union Foundation has been there to help employees and board members get back on their feet.

As of Thursday, the National Credit Union Foundation’s CUAid and the Cornerstone Credit Union Foundation have collected more than $1,729,282 to support the needs of employees and board members in affected credit unions.

Foundation Executive Director Courtney Moran reports that they have made 1,010 Phase I disaster relief grants totaling $920,255.

"We want to thank everyone who has donated their money, time, water, labor, etc. for credit unions and their people in need," said Moran. "Such generous giving across the region and the country has shown that credit unions not only talk the talk about people helping people, we walk that walk too."

"But we're really just getting started," Moran said. "Much more assistance will be needed over the next few months and even years to help people whose needs are greater than the $1,000 Phase I grants. We will soon broaden our reach with Phase II grants to address those needs."

The Foundation asks for your generous donations to address those ongoing relief needs. Please donate at CUAid or at
